BDE 3.0 Open Source Released

Bloomberg has released their C++ libraries for large-scale commercial applications. The BDE short for Basic Development Environment has been released under a permissive open source license.

It is composed of two major libraries namely BSL (Basic Standard Library) and BDL (Basic Development Library). The release of BDE 3.0 is done to encourage the C++ developer community to experiment and enhance the library and derivatives. The Basic Development Environment is used in production at Bloomberg and covers a wide array of purposes such as messaging, process control via named pipes, threading, assorted utility classes, time zone information, and network transport library among others.

You can download a copy of the BDE source on GitHub. You can also read more about other C++ libraries on this website such as Boost C++ and their latest release.
