Al dente Pasta

Al dente is a state of cooked food which means the food is firm to the bite. It is an Italian word that literally translates to “to the tooth”. This term states that the food which is usually vegetables and pasta has to be cooked to a place where it is not too soft or not too hard or crunchy.

Many chefs would regard these foods that are not cooked Al dente to be either undercooked or overcooked.
