Au Gratin

Au Gratin Potato Casserole

Au Gratin is a method of cooking where the food is coated in cheese, breadcrumbs, and/or assorted herbs. The food is then usually baked or broiled. These dishes are usually prepared until golden brown usually in a shallow dish.

This method differs from deep frying which sees other coatings being applied to the food such as corn starch, wheat flour or batter.
