A Batter is a mixture of flour, eggs, and liquid which is prepared in either a thick or thin consistency. It used to coat other foods before deep frying. Wheat flour is usually used while the preferred liquid is usually milk. Water may also be used.

Batters may vary by adding herbs and spices to the mixture. In other cases spices, sugar, salt and pepper, and other ingredients to improve the texture and flavor.
