A Binary file is a computer file that is not a plain text file. A Binary file can contain parts that can be interpreted as plain text data such as a Microsoft Word document that has its formatting information in Binary while the data is in plain text. Other formats include an mp3 file which can be interpreted as audio or a jpeg file that can be interpreted into an image.
