Chrome OS or chromeOS is a proprietary Gentoo Linux-based operating system designed, maintained, and marketed by Google. It is derived from the free software Chromium OS and uses the Google Chrome web browser as its main user interface. Unlike Chromium OS, Chrome OS is proprietary software. Chrome OS was initially released on June 15, 2011. Unlike other operating systems, Chrome OS primarily runs web applications.
