Computer memory is a device or system that is used to store data or programs on a temporary or permanent basis for use in a computing device. The term computer memory can also be used to refer to primary storage such as a Solid State Drive (SSD) or primary memory such as Random Access Memory (RAM).
Main (or primary) memory is where instructions and data are kept and accessed when a program is running. Auxiliary (or secondary) memory holds data and programs not currently in use thus providing long-term storage.
