ECMAScript is a JavaScript standard designed to ensure that web pages across different web browsers work together in a predictable manner. The standard is maintained by Ecma International according to the document ECMA-262. ECMAScript is commonly used for client-side scripting on the World Wide Web as well as server applications and services using Node.js.
