Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS)

Posted: April 30, 2019 | by Michael Bright

Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure, commonly known as HTTPS is a secure extension to the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP). It provides for secure communication over computer networks where the communication protocol is encrypted using Transport Layer Security (TLS) or Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for older systems.

In other terms, Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure is also referred to as HTTP over TLS or HTTP over SSL.
