A computer monitor is a piece of hardware that is used to display information to the computer user. It consists of a display unit in various forms such as the older and obsolete CRT (Cathode Ray Tubes) or more modern Thin Film Transistor (TFT) Liquid Crystal Display (LCD).
The monitor is connected to the computer using various types of interface cables such as VGA, Digital Visual Interface (DVI), DisplayPort, HDMI, Thunderbolt, low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) and other proprietary connectors.
