An operating system, commonly known as OS is system software that manages computer hardware and software resources, as well as provides services for computer programs. They typically abstract the computer hardware from the programs that run on the system through the use of system calls facilitated by drivers.
You can find an operating system on anything that contains a computer such as mobile phones, televisions, video game consoles, personal computers, servers, etc. Examples include Microsoft Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Linux, BSD, etc.
