Uniform Resource Identifier (URI)

Posted: January 16, 2022 | by Michael Bright

A Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) is a structured sequence of characters that identifies a logical or physical resource used by web technologies. They can be used to identify anything from virtual to real-world objects in public or private domains.

A Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) is usually formatted in this order: scheme, authority ( username, host, and port. username and port are optional), path, optional query, optional fragment.
