User Datagram Protocol (UDP)

Posted: January 18, 2022 | by Michael Bright

The User Datagram Protocol, commonly known as UDP is a core member protocol of the Internet protocol suite. It is used by computer applications to send messages referred to as datagrams to other hosts on an Internet Protocol (IP) network. User Datagram Protocol with its lack of check makes this protocol rather unreliable therefore it is suitable for cases where error checking and correction are either not necessary or are handled within the application.
