MariaDB 10.1.14 Stable has Been Released

The immediate release of MariaDB 10.1.14 Stable has been announced for general availability. This new version comes with several improvements and bug fixes alike.

MariaDB is an open source drop-in replacement database for Oracle‘s MySQL. It is available in all major platforms and supports several storage engines among other features.

Highlights in the new MariaDB 10.1.14 Stable

First off, notable changes in MariaDB 10.1.14 Stable include the updating of XtraDb and InnoDB storage engines. The Engines now used are XtraDB-5.6.29-76.2 and InnoDB-5.6.30. The Performance Schema updated to 5.6.30.

Another important thing to note is that support for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 has been dropped.

Also updated is the repositories for Debian “Sid” and the new release Ubuntu 16.04 “Xenial”. These now use the new SHA2 GPG signing key.  SHA1 keys now post warnings.

The rest of the changes in this new MariaDB are bug fixes and performance improvements across the board.
