Notepad tabs in Windows 11 is being tested by Microsoft. Users in the Windows Insiders program can experience this new feature that comes with Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25281.
This new update is a top requested feature from the community. The idea is to allow users to create, manage, and organize multiple files in a single Notepad window similar to how Notepad++ handles files. In addition users can also continue to work with files across multiple windows by dragging a tab out into its own window. A new app setting lets you customize whether files open in new tabs or a new window by default.
