NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Announced

NVIDIA has announced the latest entry-level Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) under the 1x series of cards. The GeForce GTX 1060 it is. This release comes after the previous releases in May and June which saw the introduction of the GeForce GTX 1080 and the close follow-up of the GeForce GTX 1070.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 is billed as a competitor to the AMD RX 480 GPU.

So What’s Under the Hood in the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060?

Priced at about $300 this graphics card is powered by NVIDIA’s Pascal and is ready for VR. Next, we can take a brief look at the specifications with this card.

There are 1280 NVIDIA CUDA Cores and a base Clock of 1606 MHz. The memory speed is at 8Gbps with standard inbuilt memory at 6 GB GDDR5. Still, on Memory, the interface width is 192-bit and Memory bandwidth is 192 GB/s.

Microsoft DirectX 12 with feature level 12_1 is supported on this card. OpenGL 4.5 is supported as well as Vulkan API. The connector Bus recommended is PCIe 3.0 with official drivers available for Windows 7-10, Linux and FreeBSDx86.

Maximum digital resolution is 7680px by 4320px @60Hz. With this, the Standard Display Connectors are DP 1.43, HDMI 2.0b and Dual Link-DVI supporting multiple monitors. HDCP 2.2 is also supported on this device.
