The Qt Company announced over the weekend that it has released Qt 5.6 Beta available for immediate download. This release brings the full version of Qt 5.6 ever closer to a stable release.
The Qt 5.6 stable release will be tagged as a long-term release and will get guaranteed support for 3 years.
Qt 5.6 Beta A Great Leap Ahead
This new version comes out about 3 years after the first major release of the Qt 5 and introduces long-term support which is quite welcoming to the developer community and customers alike.
Full support for high-resolution screens also comes with this Qt version. This means applications UI which includes fonts, elements, and other graphics will automatically scale on high-pixel-density displays.
Qt 5.6 beta now has full support for Windows 10 covering both the win32 and WinRT APIs. Visual Studio 2015 is also supported with pre-built binaries.
Qt 5.6 Beta also introduces a new Continuous Integration (CI) system that saves time when packaging applications with integrated changes.
It is also worthwhile to know that Webkit and Qt Quick 1 are no longer distributed with Qt 5.6.
