Wine 5.22 Release With Video Playback Improvements and 3DES Cipher Support

The new Wine 5.22 release has been announced and comes with a few new features. This release comes in as we wait for the official coming of Wine 6.0 in early 2021.

Wine is an open-source framework that allows users to run Windows programs and games on Linux and macOS systems.

This release comes with more developments and improvements and now C run-time libraries have been converted to PE format. This release now uses the fontconfig cache for getting faster start-ups.

There are also video playback improvements, added 3DES cipher support, and a host of 36 bug fixes.

Notable fixes take care of issues within Cobra 11 Nitro, Rome Total War, Motocross Madness 2, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Lockdown, CCCP Insurgent, Foldit puzzle 1266, Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim, Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered, Need for Russia, Chromium 32-bit sandbox, Thief Gold, Thief II: The Metal Age, Commandos 2: Men of Courage, Black Ops 4, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, Age Of Empires III, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019).

Others are Ys: The Oath in Felghana, WinRAR x64 4.x/5.x installer, Oblivion, Light of Altair, Overwatch installer, Anno 1800, Titan Quest Anniversary Edition, Fallout New Vegas, Wargaming.net Game Center, Ghostrunner, Elite Dangerous Launcher, ODBC applications, explorer.exe, and Guild Wars 2 Launcher.
