“Han Solo” a voice belted out, as these band of amateur rebels entered the castle on the planet of Takodana. Well except Han Solo of course. Yet not so much the voice of an old lady but one who sounded young and energetic, that was the voice of Maz Kanata.

Maz Kanata played by the Oscar Award-winning actress Lupita Nyongo first appeared to us, the general public, in the December release of Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens blockbuster movie.

So Who is Maz Kanata?

Maz Kanata is described as a diminutive being with vast experience at surviving in the underworld.

“From her castle on Takodana, Maz has seen galactic powers rise and fall and felt the Force ebb and flow, seeking an elusive balance between darkness and light. She has given many a young smuggler a start by offering credits, equipment or connections, and helped many an old friend rediscover a lost path.” – Starwars.com Databank

She is also famous for a few other things. For starters, she is credited with the quote “I have seen the same eyes in many people”. What caught our attention the most is that she had been the keeper of Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber since after it got lost on cloud city. The same lightsaber that belonged to Darth Vader or Anakin Skywalker and she now passes it on to Rey.

This is the basis of the question as to how did she come across this lightsaber and does she really appear in previous movies across the Star Wars films? Well, KMACK TIME did a YouTube video which you can check out below about how Maz appears in the original Star Wars trilogy as well as the prequels.

Generally here is the breakdown:
