NVIDIA has announced the added support for VRWorks SDK on the recently released Pascal architecture-based GeForce GTX 1080 and 1070 GPUs. These new developments bring added advancements for the VR developers on these new flagship NVIDIA GPUs.

With the demands of VR applications on GPU hardware, these combinations promise to bring performance and stability in a single package. The goal of great VR applications must render high-resolution images at 90 frames per second to two screens simultaneously.

The updated VRWorks SDK comes with two new features that are based on the SMP engine. These are Lens Matched Shading and Single Pass Stereo respectively.

Lens Matched Shading pixel shading benefits from quite an amount of a performance boost as it uses Simultaneous Multi-Projection. It does this by rendering to a surface that closely approximates the lens corrected image that is sent to the headset display. This process avoids rendering pixels that are eventually discarded in the VR lens warp post process.

As for Single Pass Stereo, it allows geometry to be shared across both eyes after it has been processed by the GPU. This results in the tessellation and vertex shading being processed once, therefore, cutting the GPUs geometry workload in half. Traditionally this would entail tessellation and vertex shading being processed twice. Once for each eye without Multi-Projection.

Developers wishing to get a copy of the VRWorks SDK must register into the DesignWorks VR developer programmer then proceed to download the SDK and other material.

12 Surprising Health Benefits of Playing Video Games: brought to you by Positive Health Wellness.

NVIDIA has announced the added support for VRWorks SDK on the recently released Pascal architecture-based GeForce GTX 1080 and 1070 GPUs.
