The last time we looked at this same Index was back in September 2015 where we were excited about our favorite languages C++ and Assembly Language having pushed their way up the TIOBE index and settling at 3rd and 11th positions respectively.

This December 2015 there are still some interesting things that will catch your attention of which will be the highlight here.

Again Assembly Language is the biggest jumper compared to this time last year climbing 21 spots to peak at position 11. This is followed by Ruby which jumped eight places to peak at position 10. Next is COBOL which Jumped 6 places to 20.

MATLAB and Python each jumped 4 spots to peak at positions 16 and 4 respectively.

On the other hand. Objective-C made the biggest drop losing 12 places to settle at position 15. Other big droppers are R and PL/SQL losing 6 and 5 places respectively. This puts R at position 18 and PL/SQL at position 19.

The top three spots remain the same since September even though in the last 12 months Java has climbed to position 1 thereby toppling C. The top five, therefore, remain Java at position one. Java has proven to be increasingly getting popular after a couple of years of slacking off.

Who are the Biggest TIOBE Index Jumpers?
