NVIDIA recently unveiled their newest GPU in more that one and a half years since its previous GPU release. The GeForce GTX 1080 was announced and comes with a whole set of ambitious features as never yet seen before.
NVIDIA’s new flagship GeForce GTX 1080 is based on the new NVIDIA Pascal architecture. This means a lot for this new GeForce GTX 10x series as in a nutshell according to NVIDIA this new series of graphics cards provide 3 times faster performance than the 9x series graphics cards. This series also introduces next-get VR features as well as newer gaming technologies.
A Deeper Look into GeForce GTX 1080
This new graphics card comes with a futuristic game level design though the overall look maintains the classic GeForce look and feel.
With a Frame Buffer of 8 GB on GDDR5X as compared to the Maxwell architecture which comes with 4 GB GDDR5. The memory speed is pegged at 10 Gbps as compared to Maxwell’s 7 Gbps.
The GeForce GTX 1080 comes with 2560 CUDA cores with those this GPU boasts support for multi-projection and is Vulkan and VR ready. As for Microsoft DirectX 12, the GPU is compatible with feature level 12_1 support. OpenGL is now supported up to API version 4.5.
NVIDIA Ansel which is a revolutionary way to capture in-game shots and view them in 360 degrees and share them on your phone, PC or VR headsets. The native maximum screen resolution supported is 7680 x 4320 at 60Hz.
