KDE has announced the availability of KDE Frameworks 5.24.0 for immediate download. This release marks the start of the planned monthly releases. The regular releases allow improvements in a predictable manner.
KDE Frameworks are additional libraries added to the Qt Framework. This brings a wide variety of much-needed functionality that comes from mature, peer-reviewed and tested libraries.
Highlights of KDE Frameworks 5.24.0
KDE Frameworks 5.24.0 comes with over 50 Frameworks bundles within it. KArchive brings support for several popular compression codecs in a self-contained library.
ThreadWeaver brings threading by specifying dependencies between the threads. This greatly simplifies the use of multiple threads.
KConfig is a library that handles storage and retrieval of configuration settings. It can work with INI files, XDG-compliant cascading directories, and XML based files.
Solid is a library you can use to get information on hardware running on your system. This includes storage devices, CPU, battery status, Networking and interfaces, Bluetooth and more.
KDE Frameworks 5.24.0 requires Qt 5.2 to work. Android has been added to the list of supported platforms. New and improved icons have also made it into this release.
