July 14th, 2014, that’s two years since the Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 was shot down over the Ukranian skies. Yet in our memories, it only seems like yesterday when these events took place.
Flight MH17 was traveling from Schiphol, Amsterdam, the Netherlands to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Circumstances Behind Flight MH17
It is believed that Russian-backed rebels downed the plane though Russia blames Ukraine. All of the 283 passengers and 15 crew on board perished. Majority of the passengers were Dutch. The plane had been 33,000 Ft in the air for roughly 3 hours.
The BUK missile exploded to the left of the cockpit spraying shrapnel on the crew who were believed to have been killed instantly. The force of the explosion separates the cockpit from the business class.
