The new Qt Creator 4.1.0 Beta is out. This release comes together with the release of Qt Creator 4.0.3. The Beta version, of course, is for testing purposes and should not be used in production environments.
Qt Creator is an open source and cross-platform Integrated Development Environment (IDE). It is optimized to develop applications for various targets in the Qt framework libraries, C++, JavaScript, and QML. Other languages can be developed using the IDE via plugins.
What’s Interesting About Qt Creator 4.1.0 Beta?
Qt Creator 4.1.0 Beta comes with bug fixes and performance updates but that’s not all. New Flat Dark and Flat Light themes have been included in this release. An automated release of document resources that are not modified is now built into the IDE. This also includes the saving of document states.
Definition of whether you want closing of brackets and quotes is now a new feature in the Beta version.
The binary packages in Qt Creator 4.1.0 Beta have now been upgraded to use Clang 3.8. CMake also gets some enhancements with this release. Experimental support for the Nim programming language has also made its way into this IDE.
Under QMake, QtWebEngine is now listed as one of the modules. There is an extensive list of new features in this release so be sure to check out the release page here.
You can get the open source version of Qt Creator 4.1.0 Beta from the official download page. Those with or who prefer the commercial licensed packages can get a copy from the Qt Account Portal. Seeing this is a Beta release you are urged to report issues on the bug tracker.
