The countdown to the QtCon 2016 conventions is here. The conference this year 2016 is billed as a kind of 15 and 20-year birthday party for a handful of open source projects. Starting with KDE and of course, Qt celebrating 20 years in the business. VideoLAN and the Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) also celebrating 15 years.
Generally speaking KDE, Qt, FSFE, KDAB, and VideoLAN have collaborated to bring QtCon 2016.
What’s in Store at QtCon 2016
Highlights of the event which runs from September 1st to 8th 2016 at the Berlin Congress Center will include the culmination of annual events KDE Akademy, VideoLAN Developer Days, Qt Contributors Summit, FSFE Summit and KDAB Qt training day under one roof.
The sessions will include keynote addresses, various presentations on the above-named technologies and the innovations mile-stones.
Also included will be coding sessions, talks, parties and networking among the community of attendees.
Expected talks based on proposals will be based on but not limited to the following areas. These include cross-collaboration between KDE and Qt technologies, real-life use cases of free software, design, and usability.
Others are advancements in accessibility, translation, and localization. There will be topics covering insights on C++ and QML. Presentations on new software are also expected to take prominence.
Quality control and testing will also get some attention and the use of KDE Frameworks 5 for Qt developers including Qt Quick components using OpenGL.
