Rackspace Email Settings for Connecting Mail Clients

This guide will help you to access your Emailsrvr.com (Rackspace Email Hosting) account from a desktop email client or mobile device using IMAP, POP, and SMTP Rackspace email settings.

The configuration parameters shared in this tutorial should work with any email client that supports the IMAP, POP, and SMTP protocols.

The convenience of using an email client to access Rackspace Email Hosting means that you are not forced to use Emailsrvr.com’s webmail interface to access your emails. Some of the more common email programs include Airmail, Apple Mail, Mailspring, Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, etc.

Using Desktop email applications can improve your workflow with more business targetted features and options that you would get with webmail interfaces. With Desktop clients, your email is still available on your computer when you’re disconnected from the Internet.

Rackspace POP Settings

Rackspace POP is another protocol that allows you to retrieve incoming emails from your Rackspace email account. For this reason, Brightwhiz recommends that you use IMAP whenever possible.

These are the POP settings for Rackspace:

  • Server: secure.emailsrvr.com
  • Port: 995
  • Requires SSL: Yes
  • Username: [Your full email address]
  • Password: [The same password you use to sign in to Rackspace webmail]

Rackspace SMTP Settings

Rackspace SMTP is the protocol that handles sending emails. You would need to configure your email client with this protocol to enable sending outgoing emails through the client.

These are the SMTP settings at Rackspace:

  • Server: secure.emailsrvr.com
  • Port: 465
  • Requires SSL: Yes
  • Username: [Your full email address]
  • Password: [The same password you use to sign in to Rackspace webmail]
