SQLyog MySQL GUI 13.1.6 release has been announced and is now available for free trial or download.
This new version of the popular SQLyog MySQL database GUI comes with important updates which include bug fixes and a few enhancements.
Like a lot of other software applications, this release drops the 32-bit version going forward.
Another welcome feature is the inclusion of the authentication plugin which can be used while creating or altering users. It allows the admin to choose whether they want to authenticate with the database using mysql_native_password
or sha256_password
.
This option is available for MySQL 5.7+ and MariaDB 10.4+ servers. MySQL 8.0+ defaults to sha256_password.
Another new feature is the ability to create invisible and descending indexes which are available for MySQL 8.0.11+ servers.
Other notable improvements are bug fixes to the failure to connect MySQL over an SSH tunnel. Also fixed is the scheduled backup failure to send an email on the successful completion of the backup in some cases.
